The
Magazine that Reflects the Peralta Experience
EDITORIAL
This is the first issue of PERALTA REFLECTIONS, the Magazine designed
to celebrate the Peralta Experience. The idea for this publication grew
out of the experiences of eight people attending a writing course in
Peralta, run by the inspiring writers Jan Marsh and Kathleen Jones.
We wanted to provide a showcase for the many different talents that
emerged during our week, for it is a truism that writing and getting
into print are quite separate things, even for those who have already
published. We also felt we wanted to know what all the others were doing
after we parted, and here was a creative way of keeping in touch. And
we knew that our Peralta experience was special. It was too good to
be kept to ourselves. The varied contributions in this issue are all
from people who shared the writing course with us. Others have promised
to send pieces for the future. You will see that you can read this magazine
on line or down-load it like an e-book, as you wish. Copyright in all
articles and stories is held by the individual authors, and their material
should not be used in any way except with prior written permission.
We invite all those who were with us on our course, and all those who
have attended writing courses in the past, to contribute to future issues,
which we hope to publish twice a year. But we also invite those who
have been to Peralta to paint, or to learn cookery, or to walk the hills
and into the mountains, or those who simply come to enjoy the place
- everyone who has had the Peralta experience will know that it is special
- all Peralta people are invited to send us contributions. Don't let
this idea die because you feel shy. We need you to join us and give
us your Peralta Reflections.
