A short drive from Peralta wll take you into tne heart of the Alpi Alpuane . The mountains go up to over 6,000 feet marble quarrying abounds and the famous Carrara Marble quarries are here. On the otherside of the mountains lies the Sergio Valley where the river is crossed by the famous Borga bridge and a little further up the valley is the beautiful hill town of Barga. Not far from Castel Nuova lies the ancient and semi derelict village of Isola Santa a very atmospheric place next to a vibrant turquoise coloured lake.
